The accident took place in the wee hours at the Sultanpur-Varanasi National Highway (NH-56).
The victims, which included a seven-day-old boy, were identified as Mukhtar Ahmad (60), Rafiullah (65) Rabiya (45), Lado (25), driver Harinam (45) and his son Rahul (20). All were the residents of Rasoolabad village in Sultanpur district.
While the jeep was on its way to Varanasi, the truck was going to Faizabad from Jaunpur, said Santosh Kumar, Sultanpur Additional Superintendent of Police.
