The motorised boat, named Al-Ahujja, had strayed more than 14 kilometres into Indian waters, officials said.
The ICG ship, Tarabai, intercepted Al-Ahujja some 40 nautical miles off the west of Jakhau coast and apprehended Abdul Rahim, Noor Hakim, Majid Alam, Naseer Hussain, Mohammed Yusuf, Madma Kasim and Mamad Usman, all residents of Karachi.
The ICG officials also seized more than a tonne of fresh fish from the boat. Wing Commander Satish Menon, Defence spokesperson, ICG, said: “All the seven Pakistani nationals were brought to Porbandar and handed over to the local police for further investigation."
The Porbandar police later transferred the case to Okha police station in Jamnagar district, as the said arrest was made from an area that comes under jurisdiction of the Okha police.
Earlier, the ICG had apprehended eight Pakistani nationals from an island near Jakhau on October 19 this year. A hired Pakistani motorboat had dropped the eight there.
A day before these arrests, the ICG had unearthed a liquor smuggling racket through the sea route and caught 12 foreign liquor laden fishing boats, some 20 miles off the Jakhau coast, on October 18 this year.
