Shakuntala Mishra cricket from Feb 3

Lucknow The 8th Dr Shakuntala Mishra memorial inter-state cricket for the visually impaired will be organised at Lucknow from February 3 to 8. The tournament is being organised by the Dr Shakuntala Misra Smriti Sewa Sansthan, Lucknow.

Addressing mediapersons Sunil Kumar Chaudhary, secretary Dr Shakuntala Mishra Smriti Sewa Sansthan informed that total of eight teams including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Bihar and Haryana have been given entry in the tournament.

From February 2 to 5 the league matches will be played at the KD Singh ‘Babu’ and at the Chowk Stadium.

The semi-finals will be played on February 7 at ‘Babu’ Stadium while the final will be played at the same venue on February 8. In order to encourage the visually challenged children, some international cricketers have been invited to grace the finals and Team India cricketer RP Singh has given his consent in the same regard.

All matches will be will be played as per the international rules for cricket for the visually challenged, he further added.

The closing ceremony of the tourney will take place at 4.00 pm on February 8 at Scientific Convention Centre, Lucknow. The visually challenged children will present a cultural programme on the occasion. Prize distribution of various competitions organised for the visually impaired children will also be held at the Centre.

BBD team wins final
Babu Banarsi Das (BBD) team defeated NIEC by 9-0 in the final to occupy the top honours in the hockey competition of the 3rd Inter-Collegiate Sports Meet being organised by Babu Banarsi Das group of educational institutions at Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta Stadium, Lucknow.

In a volleyball match, BBD boys beat NIEC by 25-10 and 25-23.
