Bollywood stars rely on Satya when they want to alter their look drastically

Personal trainer Satyajit Chaurasia better known as Satya, grins, a tad wryly, when we ask him to comment on Aamir Khan’s skinny look in his forthcoming film, Three Idiots. Early last year, Satya, on whom most of Bollywood relies when they want to alter their look drastically, was hard at work getting Aamir Khan into fantastic shape. “Now it all seems like a wasted effort. It is like constructing the Taj Mahal and then watching it being demolished,” says Satya.

Satya, 36, is currently busy giving Hrithik Roshan a lean and trim look for his August release, Kites, where Roshan plays a salsa teacher. “Hrithik already has a toned physique and a half hour workout a day is enough to keep him in shape,” he explains. After some cajoling, he lets us in on his impressive range of clients, from industrialist Anil Ambani to Rani Mukherjee, Zayed Khan, Esha Deol and Ajay Devgan. But he is especially grateful to Aamir Khan.

“The little bit of fame I have received is because of him,” says Satya, who, at Khan’s behest, made a journey from his small one room gym in Nagpur to Mumbai, 15 years ago. A chance encounter with Khan on the sets of Ishq (1997) changed his fortunes and he went on to give Khan his first beefy look in Ghulam (1998). “I started my career with Khan,” he says. But Satya who has been managing over eight clients a day, and a 16-hour daily work schedule for past six years barely has time for himself. “I manage to stay fit with a balanced diet and waking up at 5 am daily,” he explains, leaving one day aside to gorge on his favourite meal of 10 egg yolks and paranthas.
