Ludhiana After being declared the third best NCC cadet at the Republic Day parade camp in New Delhi in 2006, she has been on a winning spree.

Vibhuti Jain, an alumnus of Sacred Heart Convent School in Sarabha Nagar, was also selected for the Youth Exchange Programme held in Singapore in August 2006.

An NCC Cadet of 19 Punjab Battalion, she was nominated by the NCC Director General to participate in the National Day Parade in Singapore.

Thanking her alma mater NCC in charge, she said, “In Class IX, Kiran Sharma, the NCC in charge of the school, convinced me to join NCC. I was reluctant then but now NCC has become my first passion and I have planned my career accordingly.”

Vibhuti said, “Under the guidance of the then Commanding Officer Col S S Saini, CO, 19 Punjab Battalion, I achieved my targets. And of course, the school gave me the right environment.”

After passing Class XII, Vibhuti joined bachelors in Bioinformatics (Honours) at Guru Nanak Dev College, Model Town. She topped in the Panjab University in 2008. But her love for the armed services continues.

“I shifted to Chandigarh last year (second year of graduation) as I wanted to pursue a career in the Short Service Selection Board. Presently, I will appear in my second-year examinations.”

Equally good at studies, sports and co-curricular activities, she has been the captain of the school football team and member of the district football team.

She has won many prizes in sketching at district and state level.

An ardent animal lover and a member of CAPE-India (Care of Animals and Protection of Environment, India) and People For Animals (PETA), Vibhuti wants to pursue her career in Bioinformatics. She said, “I would try to use Bioinformatics for the benefit of animals. The subject is very interesting but defence service is my first love.”
