There has been report of snowfall from Keylong, the headquarters of Lahual and Spiti district, and higher reaches of Kinnaur, Rohtang Pass and Dhauladhar ranges.
Keylong received 2 cm of snow on Saturday morning. With fresh snowfall, the snow level at the Rohtang pass swelled up to about eight feet.
As a result, tourists arriving in Shimla and other hill stations, including Manali, Dharamshala and Chail, were forced to stay indoors.
Reports of snowfall in higher reaches of Kinnaur, including on Sri Khand and Kinner Kailash mountains of the district bordering China, have also been received.
The temperature in higher reaches, however, remained below zero-level. Poor visibility due to overcast conditions forced cancellation of the Delhi-Shimla flight of Kingfisher Airlines.
The weather forecast says snowfall is expected to continue for the next 24 hours.
Mobility in the tribal belt remained severely hit.
