A number of shopkeepers today held an emergency meeting to show their resentment against the MC move and resolved not to let the MC go ahead with the decision.
According to a release signed by a number of shopkeepers of the area, the shopkeepers believe that their businesses would be hit badly if the MC executed the decision.
The Leela Bhawan market is one of the top commercial areas of the town and houses a number of big showrooms and offices.
At present, the parking at the market is regulated by the market association.
“We are already suffering losses and there are some small shops that would suffer heavy loss due to the decision, therefore, the parking lot should not be made paid,” said the release.
The shopkeepers said the students who come to the market to attend classes in various institutes would also have to pay for parking their vehicles. “We appeal to the MC to reconsider the decision,” they said.
