Pardeshi said that the inquiry officer, in charge of the committee appointed by the civic administration for probing the matter, has also brought to notice that there has been some indiscretion in the whole process including the tender procedure, price of the product and quality of the uniform fabric.
Pardeshi said, "We have received the report submitted by the enquiry committee and based on that report and as per the procedures, we have issued a show-cause notice to the school board education officer Sudhakar Tambe. It is a prerequisite of initiating a departmental inquiry." "The enquiry committee has pointed out some irregularities in the procedure, highlighting three points -- the tender procedure, price and the quality of material. The inquiry committee has found that the tender procedure has not been followed properly," he added.
Pardeshi also said that since it was not his prerogative to initiate action against the school board office-bearers, the information needs to be forwarded to the state government, which can take action against them.
Meanwhile, civic activist and president of Surajya Sangharsha Samiti Vijay Kumbhar expressed dissatisfaction as the PMC failed to make the report public. "As promised by the civic administration during the general body meeting held last week, the committee report should have been made available on Monday."
Replying to a query by Vijay Kumbhar and other activists on why the dates were missing on the tender documents on which the school board authorities signed, the civic school board said, "We forgot to mention the date." The activists also sought to know on what basis the school board came to the conclusion that the record of the Maharashtra State Powerloom Corporation Ltd in providing the uniform fabric has been bad and the concerned communication on this. The school board asked the activists to file an RTI application in this regard.
