Kolkata Kolkatans heaved a sigh of relief as it started pouring heavily in the evening today, after two days of sweltering heat. For the last two days, office goers were finding it difficult to go for work as moments after stepping out in the heat people felt dehydrated.

In government hospitals like Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, I D hospital and Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital, the number of patients suffering from dehydration and water-borne diseases has suddenly increased.

However, the unbearable heat might continue for a the next few days, predicted meteorological department experts. “It is unlikely that there will be heavy rains in Kolkata in the next two to three days. The high temperature also might continue,” said an official.
