The association members distributed sweets and hosted a lunch for the children.
A cultural programme was also organised where senior citizens sang bhajans and songs. The senior citizens were also taken around the institute to show them the various facilities, including the Braille Equipment Bank, its production unit and teaching aids and devices.
Amrit Dhingra, President of the Senior Citizens’ Association, praised the efforts of the faculty and the management.
Major General (Retd) Rajinder Nath, president of the Institute for the Blind, was honoured by the association members for his dedication towards the welfare of the visually impaired. Nath stated: “I attribute the success of the institute to the people of Chandigarh, who have donated generously to our cause and also my staff who has worked tirelessly to make our institute a success.”
