Ludhiana Jasbir Singh Khushdil, a singer by profession, was nabbed by the local police here on Wednesday. The singer and his wife were wanted in a fraudulent case of duping a person whom this couple had promised to send abroad. The arrest was made by the PO wing of the local police after the couple had absconded after registration of an FIR against them.

Jasbir Singh Khushdil and his wife Balwinder Kaur Bawa were booked by the Model Town police station for defrauding one Nirbhai Singh of Rs 16 lakh, taken in lieu of sending him abroad under sections 406, 420, and 120 B of the IPC. The FIR was registered in October 2007.

The inquiry conducted by the anti-fraud department in the case found the couple guilty and finally the case was pursued against them. It was in the year 2008 that the couple was declared a proclaimed offender by the court.

“The couple was living in different places in a bid to hoodwink the police. They used to change the places of stay very often to escape arrest. However we tailed them for over two years now and Khushdil was nabbed today morning following a tip-off we received on Wednesday morning. We are carrying out search operations to nab his wife and co-singer Balwinder Kaur as well and I am quite hopeful that we will catch her soon,” informed Charanjeet Singh Khaira, In charge PO wing.
