The committee comprising the dean of LTMG Hospital, Dr Sandhya Kamat, and deans of King Edward Memorial Hospital and B Y L Nair Hospital called the parents and took down their version of events since the baby was delivered till date. “The matter is sub judice, hence I cannot talk about this,” said Dr Ravi Ranade, dean, B Y L Nair hospital, when contacted on Monday.

“They asked us to recall the series of events and have recorded our statements. They have told us that we would we called again in case they need to know anything else,” said a distraught father of the stolen baby, Mohan Nerurkar. 

Meanwhile, Nerurkars said that a doctor from the LTMG hospital offered help in terms of employment to Mohan who is jobless. “On January 8, one of the doctors called me and gave me a number of a person who he said would help me financially. But my only concern is my child. They are trying to tell me to forget the case but I will fight till the end,” said Mohan. 

Thirteen days after the baby boy was stolen from the Sion Hospital’s maternity ward, parents had filed a habeas corpus petition in the Bombay High Court. In the petition, the parents have sought response from the hospital, state government and the police investigating the matter.
