Assistant Jail Superintendent R B Damor filed the complaint when a jail worker reported finding a charger in the barrack during cleaning. “The incident was reported around 10 am,” said jail authorities, adding that they are searching every nook and corner of the jail for more phones.
Meanwhile, Raopura PSI investigating the case said six mobile phones were recovered with SIM cards after a daylong search in the jail. “We have information that there could be more mobile phones. We are sending the seized Nokia 1200 handsets for further check,” the officer added.
This is the third such instance in the last two months when the Vadodara police have seized mobile phones from jail premises.
