Ludhiana Six students of Sacred Heart Convent School in Jamalpur were injured on Thursday when the school van they were travelling in collided with a mini-bus near BCM Senior Secondary School on Chandigarh Road. The injured students were rushed to private clinics from where they were discharged after first-aid.

Harpal Singh, Station House Officer, Police Division Number 7, said: “The driver of the private mini-bus was driving rashly. He is absconding at the moment. We have registered an FIR against him under Sections 289 and 337 of the IPC. We could have booked him under Section 331 only if there were major injuries. We have also impounded the mini-bus.”

The accident took place around 3:30 pm. The school van turned turtle after a head-on collision with the mini-bus, leading to a traffic blockade for some time.

The injured students were identified as Dikkat, Kasish Gupta, Lavish Gupta, Aashish Sethi, Gurkamal Singh and Manak. The SHO said: “Manik received some internal injuries. His parents took him to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital for CT scan.”
