Mumbai A 60-year-old skin specialist has been booked by the Colaba police for allegedly raping a 29-year-old woman who had come to him for treatment. The complainant alleged that the accused had sedated her when she had visited his skin clinic in 2006, taken nude snaps when she was in an unconscious state and then threatened to circulate them if she refused to sleep with him.

The doctor, who has been running a skin clinic in Colaba since 1976, is being questioned by the Colaba police after the complainant lodged a complaint on February 27. He has been booked for rape and criminal intimidation among other charges.

“According to the victim’s complaint, in 2006 she had approached the doctor for a consultation to get rid of the dark spots on her face. She has alleged that he gave her a sedative and after she became unconscious, he had clicked her photos in the nude. When she learnt about the photos she had demanded that he return them, but he reportedly threatened to make them public if she complained. She claims that he then repeatedly raped her over the last two years till January 2009, knowing that she won’t report it,” said Police Inspector Prakash Bhoite of Colaba police station.

The police said they would arrest the doctor after the interrogations conclude.
