SkodaAuto to launch new vehicles

Pune Its first spare parts warehouse in the country will be inaugurated in Aurangabad on March 1

SkodaAuto India, a fully owned subsidiary of SkodaAuto (Volkswagen Group) will launch its new car Superb next month and its SUV in India by 2010. Country will also see a 3.5 lakh car from the stable of Skoda Auto by 2012.

The SUV will be first launched in Germany and be priced above 10 lakh in Indian market, said a Squada official.

The company also has announced the opening of its first spare parts warehouse in country in Aurangabad that will commence operations on March 1 and will serve as the principal spare parts centre for SkodaAuto's markets across India.

"The facility is aimed at ensuring a better spare parts provision in India to manage the end to end spare parts flow, critical to customer satisfaction, cost control and optimal sales and service operations.

SkodaAuto also aims at making available an inventory of 23,000 original spare part line items for complex vehicle servicing by 2012," said Thomas Kuehl, board member, sales and marketing, SkodaAuto India

The warehouse, designed on the lines of the global spare parts centre at Mlada Boleslav in Czech, offers a broad suite of functionalities that extends into the distribution channel and will tie the overall supply chain management into the company's after sales operations, beyond core functionality.

The warehouse connected with a sophisticated SAP network will provide real time visibility of spare parts inventory and order status for channel partners and suppliers with urgent on demand features such as vehicle on road orders.

The warehouse is further expected to support the localization process which will start with production of Fabia at the new Volkswagen plant in Chakan, Pune. The Fabia is currently being manufactured at the Group's Aurangabad plant operated by Skoda Auto India.
