Smash-2009 turns out to be a smash hit at DMCH

Ludhiana The Dayanand Medical College and Hospital’s sports committee kicked off its 44th annual sports meet ‘Smash-2009’ on Monday. The meet began with a march past by the faculty and undergraduate students. After the march past, the chief guest, Principal

Dr Daljit Singh declared the meet open by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Dr Daljit Singh led an oath-taking ceremony in which Arapandeep Brar (organising secretary of the sports committee) took oath with all other office-bearers of the committee. In his inaugural address, Dr Singh emphasised the importance of sports for inculcating discipline and moral values among the students. The welcome address was given by the chairperson of the DMCH sports committee Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina. He said that sports evokes a sense of passion and fervour among students and contributes to their all-round development.

Dr Sanjeev Uppal, secretary of the sports committee, proposed the vote of thanks to the chief guest and faculty members present on the occasion. His live commentary enthralled the audience and also motivated the audience to cheer the participants and winners. Among those present at the inaugural ceremony were Medical Superintendent Dr B S Shah, members of the sports committee including Dr PL Gautam, Dr Sanjeev Uppal , Avreen Shah and Simranjeet Singh Sandhu and other faculty members. The final matches in various sporting events will be held on Tuesday.
