Snatching nightmare continues, 2 more cases reported

Chandigarh Two fresh cases of snatching were reported in Chandigarh on Wednesday with two-wheeler-borne miscreants striking at Sectors 40 and 42.

This follows the four cases reported from Sectors 44, 43, 33 and 40 on Tuesday.

A senior citizen, Gurkirat Kaur (74), wife of former AIG Police Sudershan Singh, was robbed of her purse containing Rs 1,500 and a PAN card by a scooter-borne youth.

A resident of Sector 40-B, Gurkirat was on her way to the market when the incident took place. The incomplete number of the scooter was noted down as 1832.

“It all happened so suddenly. Even a senior citizen is not safe in the city,” said Sudershan Singh.

A complaint has been lodged in the Sector 39 police station.

In another case, a student from Nepal claimed that her purse containing Rs 800 in cash and an identity card was snatched by two youths on a Honda Activa Scooter around 2 pm on Wednesday.

A student of Government College for Girls, Sector 42, Dachin Doshi stays in the college hostel.

A case has been registered in the Sector 36 police station.
