Meanwhile, hospitals in the city continue to admit patients suffering from monsoon ailments. As many as 100 people were admitted to hospitals for fever, 52 for gastroenteritis, one for suspected dengue and 29 for suspected malaria.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) epidemiology cell has tied up with the Information Education Communication (IEC) department to disseminate information on monsoon-related diseases via radio and SMS. Currently, the IEC department is in the process of finalising content with mobile firms and preparing radio jingles.
“We are still working on the tips that will be aired through radio. Information on high tide days and health tips on preventing monsoon illnesses are still being prepared,” said Dr Daksha Shah, in-charge of the BMC’s Epidemiology department.
