Day One at ‘Lakshya 2009’ was all about fun! There's something about music that enhances just about any ambience. Specially if it’s live rock and at the inter-college techno-cultural fest ‘Lakshya 2009’ it was no different. As we enter the auditorium of DAV College, Sector 10, the band ‘Bhummi’ greets us with a smile and the song ‘Anjana Safar’. “It’s amongst our first compositions and so is special for us,” chorus the foursome — Sandeep, Sidharth, Aditya and Gaurav, as the audience taps in rhythm. The band rolled out around two years ago from the college. “We wanted to come back and play for Lakshya,” admits Sandeep, who is now settled in Delhi. As they move on to the next song ‘Ghori Baba’, elsewhere the Tech Fest takes off in full swing with quiz, IT events, geet, ghazals and folk songs. While DAV-10 bags the first prize in the quiz, Department of Computer Science and Application, PU gets the prize in debugging. In the pre-defined software and web designing competition DAV-10 wins with its sound technical knowledge and Baljinder Singh of Government College, Sector 11 takes the cake in folk song competition. In the creative segment, mehendi designing saw Neha of DAV-10 create the best design and in the Ad-Mad Show, DAV-10 had everybody in splits. But it was the street play of Punjab Engineering College that got the maximum applause. While students painted faces to perfection, ringtones of Delhi 6 ruled too. “The fest is held just before the exams and is a much-needed breather,” chirped Sumit Dua, a final year student, as he joined a group playing on a portable video game. That’s the spirit!
