South Asian Youth Festival kickstarts at PU today

Chandigarh For the first time, the Youth Welfare Department of Panjab University will host the 4th South Asian Universities Youth Festival starting Thursday. The event, which will conclude on Monday, is being hosted in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

More than 175 young artistes from 22 South Asian Universities across India and abroad will participate in the festival. Artistes, including those from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives and India, will be joining SAUFEST to participate in cultural activities like music, theatre, fine arts, folk art, heritage, quiz, poetical symposium, debates, dances and painting.

They will also be taken to the Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake and Pinjore Garden for sightseeing.

The SAUFEST has been dedicated to promote international peace and development, besides active collaboration and mutual assistance among the South Asian countries in educational, social, cultural and economic fields. The cultural activities will take place at the university auditorium.
