Mukesh bring laurels
CHANDIGARH:
Chandigarh's Mukesh has done the city proud by claiming a bronze medal in the national Table Tennis Championship organised by Paralympics Association of India held at Bangalore from February 12 to February 14. Mukesh will also take part in an international event to be held in Australia in August. 24-year-old Manoj Kumar had earlier won Gold Medal in Paralympic Games held in Malaysia.

Golf tourney tomorrow
CHANDIGARH:
Legal Fraternity Golf Association will organise 'The Jurist Cup 2009', a golf tournament for its lawful members at the Chandigarh Golf Club, Chandigarh on Saturday. An annual event, it is the largest legal fraternity golf event to be conducted in India. The event would witness participation of judges and lawyers of High Courts of Punjab & Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan. This legacy of putting is carried forward with the Jurist Cup which brings together the top legal professionals of the country in a serene golfing atmosphere to network and enjoy themselves in a sport that is increasingly identified with achievers. The Jurist Cup prior to Chandigarh was held in Jaipur, and now would move to Delhi.

Athletic meet from Feb 24
MOHALI:
Yadavindra Public School, SAS Nagar will organise the Annual Athletic Meet from February 24 to 28 at the school premises. Events like 100 metre, 400 metre, 800 metre, 1500 metre race, high jump, shot put, discus throw will be held in both the boys' and girls' category.

BSNL tourney from today
CHANDIGARH:
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is organising the Eighth All India Cricket Tournament at Chandigarh from January 21 to January 28. Addressing a press conference at Kisan Bhawan on Friday, Naresh Sharma, General Manager, Chandigarh Telecom Circle said 23 teams are participating in the event. "23 teams from all over India are taking part in the tournament. Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Punjab and Chandigarh are some of the teams which will be taking part in the event. The matches will be held at six grounds namely Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, DAV School, Sector 8, DAv College, Sector 10, Panjab University, GNPS, Sector 36 and St Stephen's School, Togan.
