ADG (Establishments) Ahmed Javed’s white Bolero parked outside his house at Yashodhan building opposite the Cricket Club of India at Marine Drive, was stolen on Tuesday night. Javed reported the crime to the Marine Drive police at 6:00 am. The police believe that a duplicate key of the car had been made. Speaking about the theft Police Sub Inspector S Garud of Marine Drive police station said, “The car was parked outside the house compound. The security guard claims to have not seen anything. Such cases don’t happen very often in our area but we don’t believe any gang is involved in this theft.” When asked if the ADG’s car was specifically targeted and whether there was any police security for the ADG, he said, “The car was not targeted as it was his personal. There was no police logo on it. As for one security, the building has its own private security.”

In a similar incident, a Pajero was stolen on Saturday. The vehicle belonged to Manish Mazumdar, (45), a businessman living in Shastrinagar area of the Lokhandwala Complex. The modus operandi of the thieves is believed to be the same as used in the Marine Drive theft. The Versova police arrested two people in connection with the case while they were trying to leave the city on Tuesday. Gul Hasan Mazhar Ali (35) and Shakir Ali Liaqat Ali (41) were members of the gang that transports cars outside the city. The duo will be produced in court for police custody.
