Mumbai A six-wicket haul by medium-pacer Javed Khan (6-30) and half centuries by Dinar Gaokar (60) and Nikhil Patil Sr.( 63 n.o.) ended up being the architects of Shivaji Park Youngsters eight-wicket victory over Dadar Parsee Zorastrian in the first round of the Young Comrade Cricket Shield Tournament (70-overs) conducted by MIG Cricket Club at Matunga on Sunday.

Meanwhile, a fine display of left-arm spin by Ankit Mithawala (6-49) helped Dadar Union to beat Payyade by 125 runs to advance to the second round at Cross Maidan. An all-round performance by Simab Khan (35 and 4-35) was instrumental in Maskati’s victory over Khar Gymkhana.

The day’s batting honours went to Chitan Shah of MIG Cricket Club, who hammered 172 in 144 balls with the help of seven sixes and 14 hits to the ropes in his side’s mammoth total of 437 for 7 against Islam Gymkghana.
