SRPF man arrested

Pune A State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) personnel, who was facing an inquiry for allegedly taking money from the new recruits at the Police Training School (PTS) Nanvij in Daund taluka, was booked on Thursday by the Daund police for allegedly offering Rs 10,000 to the inquiry office for giving him a clean chit in the case.

B B Shinde, the assistant commandant at SRPF, Group V, had lodged a complaint against havaldar Prakash Eknath Jadhav in this case. According to the police, about 20 new recruits at PTS Nanvij had filed a complaint against Jadhav with R M Ladke, Commandant of SRPF Group V. The recruits had alleged that Jadhav was demanding Rs 300 every month from them. Ladke ordered a probe into this matter. Assistant Commandant Shinde was heading the investigations.

A couple of days ago, Jadhav went to Shinde's house. Throwing a cash of Rs 10,000 on a table in the house, he asked Shinde to give him a clean chit in the case. Angry at this, Shinde immediately called two of his officers at the spot for carrying out a panchanama. He then reported the incident to the commandant.

Shinde lodged a FIR against Jadhav at the Daund police station. Jadhav has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Jadhav was not arrested till reports last came in. Deputy Superintedent of Police Shrikant Paropkari of Baramati Division is investigating the case.
