Pune, March 5 The first batch of SSC students under the revised syllabus will appear for their final exams starting March 11. As many as 15,98,213 students across the state will be appearing for this exam out of which 13,96,009 of them will have question papers based on the revised syllabus. Subsequently, for 2,02,204 students who are repeaters, this is probably the last chance to appear for the exam under the old syllabus as it is yet not clear as to whether the SSC board will allow them to appear under the old syllabus in October if they cannot pass this time.

“This year, according to the new syllabus, language subjects have an oral exam for 20 marks; but for the 80 marks written test paper the duration will be three hours,” says the press note from the SSC board. It has also clarified that for English (second and third language) and Mathematics there would be multiple question papers. “For all English (first, second and third language) papers, day and date will be the same. For Social Sciences part 1 and 2, there will be an internal exam of 10 marks for each part. Environmental studies, Personality development and Health education are also compulsory subjects. The exams for these three subjects are to be conducted internally by the schools and the marks will be converted to grades, to appear on the final marks list. Mathematics - 1 and 2 also have an internal exam for 15 marks each.

“Students who are blind, handicapped or suffering from cerebral palsy are allowed to take writers; but these writers should fulfill the criteria set by the board and should take all papers,” says the press note. There are 3,669 centres all over the state.
