The decision to that effect was taken as the earlier remittance of Rs 25 crore grant was not utilised in accordance with implementation criteria. The work on the plot of the land, which was earlier given to the College of Nursing for construction of new residential college, was left incomplete and later the same plot was allotted to the Department of Physiotherapy.

The PIU, on Wednesday asked the SSG authorities to resolve the matter at local level.

“We will now have the SSG superintendent, the head of the Department of Physiotherapy and the principal of the College of Nursing to discuss the issue and come to an understanding as to who should go ahead with the project,” said S L Kantharia, the assistant superintendent of SSG. Kantharia presented the case at the PIU.

The construction on the plot was stalled after completing the foundation of the three-storey building. While neither of the units wants to have their set up outside the SSG campus, the speculations are rife that the land will be allotted to the Department of Physiotherapy.

“The sorry state of the Department of Physiotherapy calls for better infrastructure set up. Also, the students of physiotherapy need to be in constant touch with those of other departments,” said an administrative officer at SSG.

In that case, the College of Nursing will be allotted the land at the Vaccine campus at Old Padra Road.
