St Francis to lock horns with Jaipuria College in final

Lucknow, January 2 Helped by commendable bowling performances by Ali Saud (4 for 17) and Arnav (4 for 23), St Francis’ College registered a seven wicket win against New Way XI in their semi-final stage match of the 10th Avinash Chaturvedi Memorial Cricket Tournament at the Colvin College grounds here on Wednesday.

In the second semi-final played at Chowk Stadium, Jaipuria College defeated Delhi Public School by ten wickets.

Brief Scores:(at Colvin College)-

New Way: 123 all out in 37.2 overs ( Siddharth 41, Ankit 23, Mudit 13; Ali Saud 4 for 17, Arnav 4 for 23, Vishal 1 for 25);

St Francis’ College: 126 for three in 25.5 overs ( Digvijay 45 not out, Mohsin 41; Ankit 2 for 16);

(at Chowk Stadium)-

DPS: 80 all out in 19.5 overs (Neeraj Kar Pathak 25, Pranav Pandey 10; Rohan Bambi 3 for 12, Vikrant 2 for 2, Vikram Singh 2 for 14, Akash Arya 1 for 21, Prabal 1 for 23);

Jaipuria College: 81 for no loss in 15.2 overs (Prajjwal 43 not out, Vikram Singh 26 not out).

Condolence meets

Condolence meets were organised by various sports associations to express grief over the demise of Anand Kacker, secretary, Indian Wushu Association and UP Wushu Association who passed away on Tuesday. In a message, the office-bearers of Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association (UPOA) have said that Kacker’s death is a big loss for the sports fraternity.

The UP Judo Association has said that despite suffering from cancer for the past four years, Kacker was instrumental in taking Wushu to newer heights both in India and abroad. He also contributed immensely to the development of judo, taekwondo, fencing and atya-patya.

Manish, Adil selected

As per a press release from Lawyer’s XI, Lucknow, two of its members—— Manish Misra and Adil Baquar Abbas have been selected to represent the Indian Advocate’s Cricket team in the First Lawyer’s Cricket World Cup at Hyderabad.
