Mumbai, January 7 On a chilly January evening last year, actresses Helen and Kareena Kapoor made the mercury soar as they grooved together to Yeh mera dil... from Don, and cine history was made at the Star Screen Awards.

Over the years, the Awards have been known to spring surprises. And this year will be no exception. With the Nokia 14th Annual STAR Screen Awards coming up on January 10, it is time again for the cine-goers’ dreams to come true with similar dramatic moments.

With the biggest of stars on stage, some awe-inspiring performances and the who’s who of the film industry present, it will be a night to remember and a celebration of cinematic excellence.

From Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan to Aishwarya Rai, Kareena Kapoor and Nana Patekar—Bollywood’s newsmakers are back on the nominations list this time, after topping last year’s list. The likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya, Kareena and Tabu will compete for the coveted Best Actor (Male and Female) Awards. This year’s wonder-heroes Shahid Kapur and Akshaye Khanna too have made it to the list.

With top actors vying for the awards, star-gazers will not be disappointed. Last year’s most perfect frame was when the audience’s favourite Munnabhai hero Sanjay Dutt walked hand in hand with girlfriend Manyata—thus making their first public appearance together.

At this year’s Awards, path-breaking movies like Chak De! India, Taare Zameen Par, Gandhi My Father, Black Friday and Johnny Gaddaar are on the nominations list. Aamir Khan (Taare), Mani Ratnam (Guru), Farah Khan (Om Shanti Om), Shimit Amin (Chak De) and Anurag Basu (Life In A… Metro) have been shortlisted for the Best Director Award.

“I am too shy. I just don’t know what to say,” said Mani Ratnam, whose Guru has notched up 14 nominations.
