The police officers said the incident was reported from Ramgarh in the area on January 5. Chand Khan, neighbour of the tea shop owner Vikul Vishwas (34), hit him on the head after he demanded Rs 312 that Khan owed him. Khan had consumed tea and snacks worth Rs 312 from the shop.
After a bystander called the police, Vishwas was rushed to Maharaja Agrasen Hospital in Punjabi Bagh where he was declared brought dead.
Khan, who fled from the scene of crime, is absconding. Vishwas is survived by wife Durga and two children.
The police is yet to convert the attempt to murder case registered after the incident into a murder case.
