Pune, March 6 The dearth of manpower in retail banking and sales sector has initiated an innovative tie-up between Standard Chartered Bank and Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS). They have joined hands for a post-graduate programme in retail banking and sales, the highlight of which is that all 300 students admitted to the course will be employed by StanChart.

“We require around 6,000 people per year in this sector. The demand for talented people in banking and financial services sector far exceeds the supply. To bridge this gap, we have come out with this tie-up,” said Murali M. Natrajan, regional head-consumer banking, StanChart. “We have different plans for expanding our business for which we will require skilled manpower,” he said. “According to a study, the attrition rate is at least 30 per cent, which clearly highlights the need for skilled manpower in this sector,” said H. Chukerbuti, director of SIMS.
