Ludhiana Although it was a star-studded day, a technical snag in the flight of Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Modi and BJP’s women wing President Smriti Irani forced the cancellation their rallies in the city. However, the Congress candidates greeted their voters by making them meet actor Raja Murad.

Raja Murad campaigned for Pappi Shahpuri, who is contesting from Ludhiana South, and Gurmail Pehalwaan from Ludhiana East. “I have come to Ludhiana for the first time and appeal to all of you to bring a change. Aane wali 30 tarik ko panje pe agoontha dabana hai, vidrohiyon ko agoontha dikhana,” said Murad.

He peppered his speeches in both constituencies with lots of shayari and entertained the crowds which were excited to see the actor. The masses were seeking autographs from the actor, who was giving his speech in filmi style. Dubbing the ruling SAD-BJP alliance ‘the villain’, he asked the people to vote for ‘the real hero’.

Sushil Modi of the BJP was scheduled to address the migrant voters of Ludhiana South and Atam Nagar in a joint rally organised at 100 Foota Road for SAD candidates Hakam Singh Giaspura and Hira Singh Gabria. In these constituencies with total voters of about 2.6 lakh, migrants vote constitute more than 70,000 voters. So they will play a decisive role in the assembly elections.

However, according to information from BJP leaders, the aircraft in which Modi and Irani were travelling developed a technical snag and had to make an emergency landing at Chandigarh airport instead of Sahnewal airport. So their Ludhiana rallies were canceled.

Irani was scheduled to address supporters of BJP candidate Rajinder Bhandari, who is contesting from Ludhiana West. The venue was planned at Rotary Bhawan. After the rallies were cancelled, the candidates went on a door-to-door campaign.
