Star-struck Cong banks on Ravi Kishan

Lucknow After a tussle on seat-sharing, the Congress and Samajwadi Party have now resorted to star wars for campaigning.

Famous Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan is going to campaign for the Congress, especially in the eastern areas of the state. It is the same area from where SP has fielded another Bhojpuri star Manoj Tiwari from Jaunpur seat, which happens to be the native place of Ravi Kishan.

According to sources close to Ravi Kishan, the Bhojpuri actor is in fact keen to contest on a Congress ticket from Jaunpur, which has two parliamentary constituencies — Jaunpur and Machhlishaher.

While Jaunpur comprises mostly urban areas, Machhalishaher has a rural electorate. Ravi Kishan is interested in contesting from Machhlishaher. In case, he is not offered a ticket, he is also ready to campaign for the party in that area, said sources.

Congress spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh said along with Ravi Kishan, television comedy king Raju Srivastava would also campaign for the party. The schedule for their campaigning will be finalised after the notification of the first phase of poll.

Singh said the other film stars who are members of Congress or had been associated with the party for long like Zeenat Aman, Asrani, Govinda would also campaign for the party candidates.
