Mumbai, January 8 Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to perform Dard-e-Disco from Om Shanti Om at the Nokia 14th Annual Star Screen Awards on January 10, with a display of pyrotechnics that complements his stature.

And if that’s isn’t enough, look forward to Shahid Kapoor’s dance on Nagada from Jab We Met. Riteish Deshmukh will also put his dancing boots on to the tunes of Mast Qalandar and Heyy Babyy while Katrina Kaif will perform to hit numbers from Welcome, Partner and Namastey London.

Over the past 14 years, the awards ceremonies have ensured that preparation and improvisation go hand-in-hand to achieve their vision. And who better to channel this vision than Sajid Khan, back after his withdrawal last year due to prior commitments. He is eagerly looking forward to the duties of a host.

The comedy king promises to make the big night bigger and better. “The show will be a non-stop mirthquake. But I know entertainment cannot be complete with just the big stars of Bollywood. It has to have more appeal for the masses. It will have an equal amount of importance on both the live audience and those watching it on television,” he says.

Actors Shreyas Talpade and Saagarika (of Chak De! India fame) will also grace the show. The former will perform a segment alongside Sajid Khan (emulating the Chak De! girls) while Saagarika will host the Marathi awards part. Like Hollywood actor Robert De Niro’s weight loss for Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver, Sajid says (tongue-in-cheek, perhaps, knowing him) that he has shed 19 kilos for his Saawariya title-song performance.

Dia Mirza and Amrita Arora will countdown the year’s Top 30 films while Urmila Matondkar will perform to songs from Manoj Kumar’s films with a special appearance by Zeenat Aman. As usual, Sajid will have the last word. “It’s my trademark and exclusive for hosting the awards and like every year, I’ll be talking about what every star would be thinking about at the awards night,” he says.
