Chandigarh, January 31 The united fight against crime by Haryana and its neighbouring states will definitely yield positive results, feels Ranjeev Dalal, Director General of Police (DGP), Haryana. The Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan Police have decided to launch a common fight against criminals by pooling in their resources. “Criminals will henceforth find it very hard to run to neighbouring states after indulging in criminal activities,” says Dalal.

“A special police control room is going to be set up at Mandi Dabwali in Sirsa district on the border with Punjab and Rajasthan to keep a check on criminal activities. The special police control room will be activated by next week,’’ said Vikas Arora, SP, Sirsa, while talking to The Indian Express on phone today.

Arora said the Haryana special police control room will coordinate with 11 district police in the three states of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan. Two of these districts are in Haryana — Sirsa and Fatehabad. There are six districts in Punjab, including Moga, Muktsar, Bathinda, Ferozepur and Faridkot, and two in Rajasthan — Hanumangarh and Ganganagar. The expenses incurred on the joint operations will be shared by the three partner states, said Arora.

Police officials from Punjab and Rajasthan will be posted in Mandi Dabwali police control room for managing police cooperations between the three states, said Arora. A joint meeting of the police officers of Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan was held at Mandi Dabwali recently to discuss ways and means of curbing crime.

IGP, Hisar Division, Anant Kumar Dhull said the first step in curbing crime would be to prepare a list of most wanted and declared criminals of the region so that necessary action could be taken during urgency.

Similarly, police officers should also prepare a list of smugglers involved in the smuggling of drugs and liquour to check smuggling of these items.

Dhull said criminals of these three states were also involved in snatching incidents. In the same way, vehicle thefts could also be prevented effectively through police nakabandi, he added. He said a committee of police officers of these three states was also being constituted for coordination to curb crime efficiently.

Inspector General of Police, Patiala, C.S.R. Reddy said hidden criminals would be nabbed by the police through a joint operating by sharing information of criminals.
