Speaking at a seminar in the city on Friday, Justice Pinaki Ghosh said that in the last two years over five thousand petitions were lying pending with them. The members of the All India Legal Aid Forum, meanwhile, demanded that the cases pending with the commission be recommended to the state government.Joydeep Mukherjee, general secretary, All India Legal Aid Forum said: “The WBHRC has no mandatory powers and we believe that they should be given more powers so that cases can be solved fast.
