The minister was visiting Khanna to preside over the prize distribution function of A S College for Women, Khanna. Addressing mediapersons, he said that basic facilities including the sewerage network, water supply, roads streetlights etc. will be provided in all the towns. He added that to get approval for the purpose, a high level meeting with the government authorities will be held on March 11 at New Delhi.
Kalia announced a grant of Rs 3 lakh for the college, and distributed the prizes to the students for their outstanding achievements in academics, cultural, sports and other activities. Chief Parliamentary Secretary Bikramjit Singh Khalsa said that the education of the girls was on top agenda of the government, as it was essential for the harmonious transformation of the society.
Principal Dr Rekha Bhardwaj read out the annual report and highlighted the achievements of the college in different fields.
