Kolkata The state Congress lambasted Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today for his remarks against Union Home Minister P Chidambaram. The leaders said such an accusation against a person like Chidambaram was “obscene”.

“How dare he (Bhattacharjee) tutor Chidambaram on decency? The union minister knows what decency is. Whatever little the home minister said, he spoke from the point of view of administration. The accusation itself is obscene,” said Subrata Mukherjee, working president of state Congress.

After a meeting for the upcoming municipal elections with Congress leaders, Mukherjee said the candidate list will be prepared by April 17.

“We will prepare our list of candidates by April 17 and send it to Pranab Mukherjee, president of West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee,” said Mukherjee.

Mukherjee also said talks were on with MPs, MLAs and district leaders of Trinamool regarding the upcoming municipal elections.

Senior Congress leaders will talk to Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee regarding the elections and seat sharing after she returns from Delhi, he said.
