Station House Officer dies of heart attack in police station

New Delhi The Station House Officer (SHO) of the Gulabi Bagh Police Station (North District) was found dead in his room at the police station on Friday.

The duty officer discovered his body when he went in to inform him of a suicide in the area.

Police said that the SHO had died of a heart attack. According to the police, 59-year-old Ram Chander Danga had briefed his personnel around 11 pm on Thursday night. He then retired to his rest area (a small room with a cot) and slept.

“On Friday morning, the duty officer went to wake him up and found blood oozing from the his nose. Danga was rushed to the Bara Hindu Rao Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival,” a senior police officer said.

Police said that SHO Danga was a heavy smoker and a diabetes patient.

Danga had joined the Delhi Police as a head constable in 1970. In 1981, he took the exam for sub-inspectors and was selected.

In 1994, he became an inspector and was posted as additional SHO in Tilak Marg. He then served in C R Park, Rajouri Garden and Kamla Market, before he was promoted as an SHO and sent to Khajuri Khas in 2007. He was then transferred to Gulabi Bagh in September, 2008.

SHO Danga lived with his wife, a son and a daughter in Shadipur area. He had got his eldest daughter married on February 19 this year.
