The Swargate police have arrested a gang of five auto rickshaw drivers for allegedly stealing auto rickshaws from various parts of Pune. The accused were selling the autorickshaws in Ahmednagar district. The police have recovered 15 auto rickshaws from the gang. The accused were identified as Balasaheb Vishwanath Dahatonde (30), Annasaheb Maruti Pawar (30), Raiees Latif Shaikh (20), Muna alias Rasool Mohammad Shaikh (32), all from Ahmednagar district and Altaf Ansar Shaikh (20) from Gultekdi in Pune. Altaf during sustained interrogation admitted of stealing the auto rickshaws and also gave the details of his accomplices in Ahmednagar.
ACP N R Dange dispatched a police team to nab them. Accordingly, Police Inspector V N Bhandare, Assisatant Police Inspector Indalkar, Sub Inspector Suryawanshi, Hawaldars Shrikant Sonawne, Jaganath Gore, Constables Santosh Bhapkar, Krishna Nidhalkar, Nandu Pawar, Sanjay Rasale, Subrao Lad, Baba Shaikh and Sanjay Kalokhe laid traps and held the four accomplices in Ahmednagar.
