Sterling Hospital to invest Rs 700 crore in healthcare

Vadodara, February 24 There is some good news for the health care sector of both rural and urban areas of Gujarat. The Sterling Hospital is investigating around Rs 700 crore to develop hospitals and clinics in the state in the next two years.

Shridhar Sethuram, Director, Sterling Hospital, said this at a Cardiac Conference being organised by the hospital in the city. “In two years time, Sterling Hospital will be investing around Rs 700 crore in the health care sector, focusing on various specialties such as geriatrics and cardiology,” he said.

Around 285 medical experts from Vadodara and the neighbouring districts attended the conference.

He said the hospital also has plans to open a clinic in Manjalpur area of the city and at Vadodara Airport within a week’s time. Besides, there are also extension plans in Vadodara and Ahmedabad, he said.

Further detailing about their plans, Gayatri Singh, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Sterling Hospital, Vadodara said, “We will be soon be starting two clinics in the city within a week’s time and will also furnish telemedicine services in Bodeli, Bharuch, Motafofalia so that medical services are catered to the rural areas by March this year.”

Sethuram said, by December this year, one more Sterling Hospital will be functional at Rajkot. “We also have hospitals coming up in Mundra, Surat and Bhavnagar in Gujarat,” he said.

Pointing out the various standards required to rope in NRIs in the health sector, Sethuram said that the hospital was trying to get the National Accreditation Board for Hospital (NABH) and Joint Commission International (JCI).

Gayatri Singh also shared the idea of linking up with the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the rural areas of Gujarat aiming to render healthcare services in tribal areas. She said, “We will start gearing up for the projects by tying up with PHC by March this year.”
