Residents suspect that a person residing in the same area poisoned the dogs, as they used to chase his pet dogs whenever he took them for a stroll. Locals said that in the morning, they saw a few dogs dead near the Ramji Mandir.
Initially, they thought it might be accidental, but later they found the incident fishy and pointed fingers at one Prakash Soni. Some residents even approached him where heated arguments took place between them.
Later in the day, one Chetan Padia submitted an application to the Makarpura police station. "We have taken the application and once the postmortem report of the dogs comes, we will take action. The bodies have been sent to an animal hospital at Bhutdizampa," said an official at the police station.
Officials at the Vadodara Municipal Corporation were caught off guard on the matter, said sources.
