Pune Council decision bans those aged above 30 from doing law courses

Several students’ organisations have opposed the Bar Council of India’s move-of restricting aspirants to do law courses after the age of 30 years.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sanghatana and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena on Thursday met vice chancellor of the University of Pune Narendra Jadhav and demanded to take up the issue in a special meeting of the academic council.

The organisations have also submitted a memorandum in this regard. In a press note, Jadhav said that he was averse to the idea and will take up the issue in the academic council meeting to be held on February 20.

“It is a fundamental right of any citizen to get education and age should not be a bar. The Bar Council has taken the decision without taking students into confidence and thus we oppose the move,” says the press note.
