Students from Moscow university come calling, attend training programme at PAU

Ludhiana A six-member delegation from Moscow State University of Environmental Engineering (MSUEE), Russia, comprising Dr Rozhkov Andrey, Dr Olga Mamay, Konovalov Andrey,  Karpov Viachesiav, Bezrukova Olga and Kozlovskaya Daria, is on a visit to Punjab Agricultural University from February 22 to March 8.

The group interacted with Vice-Chancellor Dr Manjit Singh Kang, deans, directors and other PAU officers on Tuesday. PAU and MSUEE have signed an MoU facilitating the exchange of students of College of Agricultural Engineering. PAU students have already visited Moscow and now MSUEE students are visiting PAU under the programme.

Dr Kang narrated incidents of his visit to MSUEE where he saw several interesting technologies including a water treatment plant and the hydraulic energy generation plant. Dr Rozhkov Andrey said the relationship between PAU and MSUEE was mutually beneficial and wished to see it grow deeper with a focus on new programmes.

Olga Mamay offered to teach a course in Russian language to interested students and teachers during her stay in the university.

The visiting students said they wished to see Taj Mahal and relish Punjabi food. They also wanted to know about the depleting ground water situation and ways PAU was addressing the problem.

Dr Vishal Bector, Dr A K Singh, Dr P P S Lubana and Dr Ashok Kumar, who had visited Moscow along with PAU students, also shared their views on the occasion.

Dean of College of Agricultural Engineering, Dr B S Ghuman, said that the visiting students will attend a training program at PAU wherein they will be taken on a tour of various departments, library, Museum of Social History of Punjab, plant clinic, Center for Communication and International linkages, as well as Punjab Horticulture Post Harvest Technology Centre and CIPHET.
