Pune, January 3 Keenly scanning through the pages of the course module in FTII were 10 students from the Oberlin College, Ohio. They are in Pune as a part of a tour to acquaint themselves with Indian cinema. Sponsored by the Oberlin College and funded by the Minneapolis Foundation, this 13-day-long tour spans across three cinema hubs in the country — Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad. “The students are here so that they could get familiar with one of biggest film industries in the world. World cinema is incomplete without a mention of Indian cinema,” said faculty member Anuradha Needham.

The cinema studies programme at Oberlin College however does not include Indian cinema. “We do want to include Indian cinema in the programme. Steps are being taken in that regard,” said Needham

Their first day at the FTII was a run by of cinema studies in India. “The intensity of the training here is much more than in the USA. There we have to rent our equipment. We don’t have the luxury to just enroll for a course and then go about making good films at such a cheap budget,” said Allison Paz, final year Cinema Studies student.
