The group includes students from India, Australia, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Ukraine, Nigeria, Mongolia, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Bangladesh and Nepal. The group is on its way from Wagah border to Delhi.
Baba Jaswant Singh welcomed the peace marchers and the medical students. Addressing the gathering, he said that young doctors are a ray of hope for the future generation, and their efforts for the cause of peace and selfless service of humanity are greatly appreciated.
Baba Jaswant Singh added that Gurdwara Nanaksar Complex has been serving people of all caste, creed, religion and status.
Dr Vivek Saggar also extended a warm welcome on behalf of the faculty and students of BJS Dental College and Hospital. Dr LS Chawla, Dr PS Jassal and Dr Bharti Uppal were among the prominent doctors present on the occasion.
The Trust had made special arrangements for the overnight stay and hospitality of the young delegates at Nanaksar Complex. The march proceeded from there today morning.
Ankita Chaudhary, National Student Representative, Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD), said that the entire group was overwhelmed by the reception they received at Gurdwara Nanaksar. She said that it was perhaps the grandest reception and the most comfortable stay so far in their peace tour.
IDPD, as an affiliate of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, has been campaigning for a world free of nuclear weapons. As part of this campaign, a peace march will be organized in Delhi in collaboration with Dr LS Chawla, national president, Indian Doctors for Peace and Development.
