Ludhiana The students of the Punjab Open School System are in fix as their final exams are approaching but the books have not been made available to them yet. The Class XII annual examinations begin from February 22. Nirmal Singh, one of the candidates, said, “I have received two parts of the English book while the remaining two are not available.” Another student Suman Sharma is waiting for her home science and history books. “I have only received three parts of English and one part of history. I am very worried,” she said. Requesting anonymity, a principal said, “It is a perennial problem. We do not get enough books from district depots of Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Mohali. If we demand 50 books, we are given 35 or 40 books.” However, Dalbir Singh Dhillon, Chairman, PSEB, said, “ We keep sufficient stock of books at all district depots. But school principals shirk the responsibility of collecting books from the depots. Bundles of books keep lying at the district depots.”
