Kanpur, February 29 Students of a primary school in Kanpur’s Benajhabar locality refused to eat foul-smelling rice provided to them under the midday meal scheme on Friday.

Benajhabar Primary School has decided to lodge a complaint with the district magistrate regarding unhygienic food supplied to them by the Nawabganj-based resource centre since February 20.

On Friday, the students complained to Principal Saira Begum about the quality of rice offered to them. Following this, Begum stopped the distribution of food. Sources said a few students fell ill after consuming the food.
