Chandigarh, October 24 In an effort to make Diwali smoke-free this year, Camphor, the eco-club of the Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35D organised an anti-cracker rally and a painting competition in the school premises on Friday.

The students made placards with anti-cracker messages to protect the environment.

Dr S K Sharma, president of the Environment Society of India, flagged off the rally to spread awareness among the people. Principal Raviraj Kaur urged the students to act as agents of change and contribute towards a pollution-free environment.

Keeping with the festive spirit, Carmel Convent School celebrated Diwali in the school premises.

The celebrations started with a prayer, which was followed by a dance performance to mark the festival of lights.

Principal Sister Maria Christi gave out a message to the students to care for the environment and not burst crackers.
