Kolkata Mourning the death of four city youths in the Pune blast, nearly 1,000 students under the banner of Youth for Peace organised a rally from Park Circus to Gol Park on Sunday.

The participants included students from J D Birla Institute,

St Xavier’s College, Bhowanipur College, Presidency College and schools like Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Birla High School Boys.

The two-hour rally started at 2.30 pm from Park Circus and culminated with a prayer at Vivekanada Park at Gol Park.

“We organised the rally to pay homage to the victims of the blast. The point is to bring the youth under one banner not just to point fingers at the government, but to build a public opinion to set things right,” said Vinay Bahety, a second year student of J D Birla Institute.

Candlelight rallies in memory of the victims had earlier been carried out by students of IIT Kharagpur and schools like Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
